Grants

The best known grants, sponsored by the government, are Pell Grants and Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants. These are both needs-based programs.

  • Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (SEOG) are awarded by the college’s financial aid office. These funds are limited, so be sure to check with the financial aid office of your college right away.
  • Pell Grants are usually awarded to undergraduate students, but there are some exceptions made for post-baccalaureate teacher certification programs. To learn more go to the Department of Education website.
